Before founding AP Studios, his rapidly growing film and music production company, GuGu spent years at the forefront of the independent music industry—building artists, creating opportunities, and sharpening the very skills he now uses to craft industry-level beats for rising talent.

A true veteran of the game, GuGu served as President of the Dallas-based indie label Redrumm Recordz, where he collaborated with hip-hop heavyweights such as UGK, Ludacris, and Steve Austin. Under his leadership, the label secured a major partnership with Private I / TMG / Universal Music Group from 1996 to 2002, gaining national exposure and breaking artists into new markets. His early work taught him what hit records feel like, how artists develop their sound, and what it takes to compete on a major-label level.
