ABOUT ME

GuGu E. Michaels is an accomplished filmmaker who has worked as a director on a number of commercials and independent projects including the feature films "Thugz", "Dangerous County", Urban Killaz", "Repentance", "Best Served Cold", "Pastor's Wife", Dangerous Men", "Unge's War" and "Jacob's Eye". He has helmed a number of campaigns for retailers namely Cadillac and Porsche. Prior to founding AP Studios, Michaels served as president of Dallas based indie record label Redrumm Recordz and worked with such artists as hip-hop giants UGK, LUDACRIS and STEVE AUSTIN.

GuGu E. Michaels won Best Editor and Best Cinematography at the Black Film Festival in 2005. In 2012 he has racked up over 12 nominations in multiple award organizations like World Music and Independent Film festival with his Action Movie "Dangerous Men" for Best Action film, Best Cinematography, Best screenplay and Best African film. Meanwhile his epic picture "UNGE'S WAR" picked up 6 nominations at NAFFCA The African Movie Awards for Best Director, Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Traditional Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Special Effects. Michaels eye for details in movies continues to prove it's worth by getting him 7 more nominations for "UNGE'S WAR" at (GIAMA) Golden Icon Academy Movie Awards for Best Motion Picture, Best Indigenous Film (Native Language) Best Costume, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Producer and Best Writer.

GuGu E. Michaels won Best Action Film at the 2012 World Film Festival in Washington, D.C. That same year he garnered 4 more awards for best Indigenous Film (Native Language), Best Cinematography at the GIAMA Awards 2012, Best Costumes in a motion picture at The African Movie Awards and Best Picture also at The African Movie Awards.
